What we got wrong last year

A year-end retrospective on longevity claims that did not hold up.

Why we are writing this

Our editorial pieces are the places where we step back from a single paper and try to say something about the state of the field as a whole. They are opinionated on purpose, but still anchored in evidence.

The short version

Longevity is real, exciting and overhyped in roughly equal measure. The job of a good editor is to tell you which parts are which. This piece is our take today - we will happily update it when better data lands.

What to read next

This article is seed editorial content for the initial build of ImmortalityLab. Over time the editors will expand it with citations and links to primary literature.
